Campaign Finance

Beginning January 1, 2018, the Ethics Commission will have limited jurisdiction over Mississippi's Campaign Finance Law. Senate Bill No. 2689, enacted during the 2017 Regular Session of the Legislature, defines and prohibits the "personal use" of campaign funds and authorizes the Ethics Commission to issue advisory opinions regarding such use. The bill also authorizes the Ethics Commission to fine candidates and elected officials who fail to timely file campaign finance reports with the Secretary of State.

In preparation for these changes in the law, the Ethics Commission has adopted guidelines for the accounting of campaign funds. Click the link below to review these guidelines.
